Former mayor is full of praise for musical
The former Mayor and Mayoress of South Ribble were full of praise for an amateur dramatic society’s latest musical production.
Coun Jim Marsh and his wife Susan attended St Ambrose Player’s performance of The Sound of Music on May 15.
Following the performance, he described it as St Ambrose’s ‘best show’ to date.
Coun Marsh, who has been in amateur dramatics himself, said: “We went the first night, and that is usually the time when there are mistakes –there was nothing of the kind.
“The show was absolutely brilliant, and the girl who played Maria was a wonderful actress. I was filling up.
“All the kids were obviously enjoying themselves.
“It is the best show we have seen them do.”
All the cast thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the production, which came to an end on May 19.
Sarah White, who played a nun in the production’s ensemble, said: “It’s all gone really smoothly.
“We have had fantastic audiences, and it was practically full for the entire week.
“Coun Marsh thoroughly enjoyed it.
“He enjoys coming to St Ambrose shows.
“We start rehearsals for The Road To Nab End soon, so we haven’t got much time to be sad about it coming to an end.”
The Road to Nab End will be the show’s amateur premiere, and will take place from August 14 to 18. It is Philip Goulding’s adaptation of a William Woodruff novel.
