Gordon Burns celebrates with school children

Burns night took on a whole different meaning in Chorley this week when a TV personality became the guest quizmaster at an annual competition.
In fact it was the second time that Gordon Burns has offered his services at Southlands High School after judging the first ever final of the primary school quiz more than 20 years ago.
And, the popular news presenter proved a hit with the contestants – staying back until 10pm to sign autographs.
Sue Hamilton, assistant headteacher at the Clover Road school, said: “As always, the primary teams were well prepared and they rose to the challenge of the quiz and were very competitive.
“Gordon Burns was an excellent quizmaster and he added a number of anecdotes, including about his experience interviewing every prime minister since Edward Heath in 1972.
“Overall it was an excellent evening and very well supported by parents.”
More than 250 people poured into the school hall to see St Peter’s Primary School crowned champions on the night.
They were closely followed by Coppull Parish Primary and all teams received certificates and trophies were also presented.
