Linda Holding at Lindas Larder, in Chorleys covered market

A POPULAR Chorley grandmother, who spent months looking for work, has decided to open her own market stall.

Linda Holding, 58, from Eaves Lane, worked at Fylde Dairies in the covered market for five years before it closed last year.

She struggled to find a job elsewhere, so bit the bullet and opened her own food stand, Linda’s Larder, in the same spot last month.

Linda, who has six children, 18 grandchildren and one great grand child, said: “I enjoyed my time at Chorley market with Fylde Dairies, so I wanted to come back.

“It was difficult to get started on my own because I didn’t have a lot of money, but we’ve budgeted and it’s going well so far.

“I couldn’t just retire and sit on my backside all day; I wanted to carry on working. And God loves a trier!”

Linda, who has lived in Chorley all of her life and went to St Michael’s High School, hopes the public will support her.

“I think people like to know that a local girl is running her own stall,” she said. “A lot of customers who I know from working here before have said how lovely it is that I’ve found work, and that I’m running my own business in Chorley now.”

Linda not only sells cheeses, chutneys, olives and continental meats, she also makes fresh pizzas on the premises.

Customers can ask for the toppings they want, and cook the pizza when they get home.

The new businesswoman has also been awarded five stars – the highest grade – in Chorley Council’s food hygiene rating scheme.
