The Team has kicked off in Chorley.

Team Active, a not-for-profit, community interest company, specialising in supporting adults into long-term physical activity and weight management, has opened a new office in Coppull Enterprise Centre.

The Mayor of Chorley, Coun June Molyneaux and Mayoress, Florence Molyneaux attended the launch, with the the Mayor officially ‘cutting the ribbon’.

David Hebblethwaite BSc (Hons) Sp & Ex Scientist, BASES CEP Director, Business Development, Team Active, said: “Team Active is comprised of staff with a proven ability to implement, develop and integrate community services and I have previously developed NHS physical activity/weight loss services that will provide the framework upon which to take action on both weight loss and physical activity.

“I aim to break down barriers to deliver physical activities - exercise classes - and healthy eating advice in order to create healthier communities within the Chorley borough.”

He added: “I offer long-term support for people who would like to become more active but are not sure what type or amount of physical activity or exercise is suitable for them.

“I also offer a weight loss service, where people can easily access my service through drop-in sessions seven days a week, at both daytime and evenings to suit peoples lifestyles.

“Additionally, I will be delivering a six week healthy eating group programme for new members to start them off losing sensible weight amounts with lots of information and strategies to help them with long-term weight loss goals.”

Director Angela Aspinall and manager Lindsay Morris at A1 Fitness, also at Coppull Enterprise Centre, are supporting the service and together they will offer specialised group exercise classes, and supervised gym sessions at their studio soon.

Team Active have just been awarded funds from UCLan’s business support programme Northern Lights, The Big Lottery Fund and the UnLtd Millennium Award to help set-up.

People can access the service by either calling directly at the office in Coppull or telephoning 01257 450335.
