Lure of new market pulls back stallholder

A stallholder has returned to Chorley Market – after 38 years away.

Bob Brennand, 62, returned on Friday to open a baby clothes stall for new borns to two-year-olds.

Bob and John jointly ran stalls in Chorley and St Helens, Merseyside, from February 1970 – but had to split the work the next year because it was too tough to handle.

Bob said one reason he came back was because he was excited about the current refurbishment of Chorley Market.

He said: "It looks a lot better now and I think it might draw customers in."

Market manager Conrad Heald came down especially to welcome Bob back.

Work on revamping the covered market should be finished within a month.
