Twitter boost for retail firm
A CHORLEY clothing company won much-sought after recognition from Dragon’s Den star Theo Paphitis.
Country clothes company Out of this World, based in Buckshaw Village and run by husband and wife team Sky and Richard McCann, is now part of the exclusive Small Business Sunday (SBS) group.
Each Sunday evening thousands of small businesses around the UK use social networking site Twitter to contact business leader and chairman of Ryman Stationery brand Theo Paphitis to describe their own business in no more than 140 characters. Theo then re-tweets his favourite six to his thousands of followers.
Sky McCann, who set up Out of the City in 2004 from the bedroom of her small townhouse in Croston, said: “We were very proud to be chosen by Theo. Retail is tough at the moment and to be recognised by someone like Theo is a fantastic honour.
“It has only been a few days, but the level of support from the other businesses in the SBS community is already apparent.”
Their company sells premium outdoor brands including Barbour, Hunter, Joules and Musto.
The winning tweet read: “Passion for country fashion. Husband & wife led team driving for retail growth in challenging times.Outofthecity.co.uk. #SBS”
The next SBS event where will see mum-of-two Sky meet the Dragon’s Den star and share business knowledge with the other SBS members.
