Albany Science College take part in a Zumbathon session for Sports Relief
Pupils from Albany High School pulled on their dancing shoes to raise money for charity.
More than 500 pupils from the Bolton Road institution were taking part in a mass Zumbathon for Sports Relief.
All pupils and staff turned up at the school in non-uniform, wearing sportswear and donated £1 to the charity.
They were all taken out of lessons at the end of the day for a one hour Zumba class with instructor Shane Lillycroft.
The school was kindly donated a stage to use free of charge from local events company Eminent Event Management.
All pupils were presented with an official medal for taking part.
A spokesman for the school said: “The idea came about when one of our PE teachers Gina Lewis asked one of her Zumba instructors if they would be interested in doing a session in school.
“It is a compulsory activity and they all had to pay £1 to be in non-uniform to do it.
“I think the pupils were really looking forward to it especially as a lot of them have not done anything like this before.
“We explained to them what they need to do.
“The school is quite fortunate that the local company gave us the lights and stage.”
