A former Olympic swimmer backed the book launch of a Chorley leisure expert.

Freestyle swimmer Anthony Howard attended the David Lloyd Club event, on Moss Lane, Chorley, on April 24, after being impressed by Alec Price’s book, ‘There’s a job for YOU in leisure’.

Anthony was part of the bronze medal winning British 4×50 m freestyle teams at the 2000 and 2005 European SC Championships.

He also represented Great Britain at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

Alec was inspired to write the book after being in the leisure industry since 1968. He was also concerned about the number of young people who are out of work.

Alec, who lives in Brinscall, said: “The book launch was absolutely fantastic.

“A lot of people from the world of leisure attended, which was good.

“They are going to promote my book through their training programmes.

“The hard work starts now for me, as I have self-published my book.

“People that have read it so far have enjoyed it.

“Anthony thinks that it is a really good book.”

Alec is now working hard to get his book selling in leisure centres and book stores.

It can currently be bought from Brinscall Newsagents, on School Lane.

Alec said: “I want it selling anywhere and everywhere.

“I would have it selling in every leisure centre across the country, if it was possible.
