Work: Pupils from Balshaws High School who picked up bronze and silver Arts Awards
These budding actors are well on track of a career on the stage after working on an arts qualification.
Pupils at Balshaw’s High School are celebrating after scooping bronze awards as part of a new initiative.
Teacher Mo Whittam said: “It is the first time that we introduced this Arts Award for our pupils.
“There were 19 candidates at bronze level and they were all involved in a performance of Macbeth at the Charter Theatre recently.
“Then some of them took part in the Shakespeare Festival as well.
“The pupils really enjoyed it all and worked really hard after school.
“One of their tasks was that they had to document all their experiences.
“It is credit to them for putting the hours of work in because most of it was done out of school hours.”
If acting is not for the students they could also pick up roles as judges on reality TV shows.
Mrs Whittam added: “Another task was that they had to talk about their art heroes and heroines.
“But they also held auditions and judged the performers to be picked for our production of ‘Annie’ later this year.”
