Thousands of people packed into Chorley's parks for an explosive evening of firework displays and bonfires.
The 30th annual Red Bank Scout Group bonfire and fireworks display at Duxbury Park was a huge hit on Saturday evening, despite a late start due to the large number of people arriving late.

There were gasps of delight from the crowds for the music-led fireworks extravaganza and the huge bonfire roared high into the autumn sky.

All the donations raised from the event go towards supporting the Red Bank Scout Group.

Elsewhere, families were treated to another show-stopping event at the Chorley Lions bonfire and fireworks show at Astley Park, also on Saturday evening.

Mayor of Chorley, Coun Terry Brown, along with Sea Cadets who helped build the bonfire, led a torchlit procession from the park gates to the large funfair ahead of the bonfire lighting at around 6.45pm.

Coun Brown said: "It was a fun-filled family evening and me and the wife thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

"It is the first time we've been down to the Lions event and we loved it. It was great fun and the fireworks were brilliant."
