POLICE are investigating the sudden death of a Leyland prisoner after he was found with a broken jaw and bleeding to the head.
Winder, a prisoner at HMP Wymott, in Ulnes Walton Lane, died at the Royal Preston Hospital on Sunday after a fellow prisoner found him collapsed in his cell.

The 48-year-old had a broken jaw and bleeding to his head, but CCTV could not confirm what had happened and police were called to the prison at 5.30pm.

Investigators are awaiting the results of a post mortem after a scan at the hospital showed that Mr Winder had cancer of the brain.

It is also known that the prisoner, whose address is not known, had been treated with antibiotics after complaining of feeling ill for a number of weeks.

Mr Winder's family have been informed.
