A quick-thinking Leyland man has denied he's a hero after thwarting an apparent suicide attempt.
Mark Makinson has relived the moment he found himself at the centre of a real-life drama outside Leyland Railway Station.

The 20-year-old was waiting with his colleagues Emma Connell and Nathan Gent for a taxi to take them to Enterprise, on Centurion Way, where they work when the drama unfolded.

He told the Guardian: "The first thing we heard was a bus braking sharply. We looked around and saw this man stood in the middle of the road.

"The bus hit him and knocked him over, the driver was saying the man had seen the bus and walked into the road on purpose.

"The guy was shaken up but he seemed unhurt and came over and stood next to us. Emma said 'you are going to wait for the ambulance' and he just said 'yeah'.

"When we turned our backs he legged it up the road to the railway bridge and started scrambling up on to the wall.

"I just chased after him and dragged him down. It was lucky he slipped the first time, because I only just got there in time to stop him jumping."
