A Leyland mum is fighting for new road safety measures outside her home after witnessing three accidents in a year.
Two cars have plunged through Colette Clarke's garden wall, in Dunkirk Lane, one writing off two of her cars.

It was a case of deja vu a week later when her neighbour's cars suffered the same fate after another accident.

Now the mother-of-two is calling on other residents to join her to get something done.

Colette, who has been leafleting the local area to highlight the problems in Dunkirk Lane, said: "People have been killed in Dunkirk Lane and it is only a matter of time before somebody else gets hurt. I have had cars smash through my wall and write off my cars and I am worried that my children will be run over.

"Speeding is horrendous in the road and it is a complete nightmare. The limit is 30mph but people drive around the bend in the lane and they just don't stop - they just use it as a race track.

"In the past residents have complained and complained but nothing has ever been done so I want to put pressure on the council to introduce new measures now."

South Ribble Council recently installed speed indicators in the area but they haven't deterred motorists from speeding and residents fear the problem will only escalate because of the increase in traffic from a new Redrow development in Dunkirk Lane.

Coun Michael Green, who represents Moss Side and is the vice chairman of the West Leyland Area Committee, admitted there was a problem with speeding in Dunkirk Lane.

He said: "Dunkirk Lane is a 30mph zone and it couldn't be reduced below that but we need something to enforce it.

"The lane is a bus route so the introduction of speed humps appears unlikely."
