A campaigner against graffiti slammed yobs who scrawled his name all over an underpass in Leyland.
Andy Farrell, from Moss Lane, Farington, was shocked to see his name inaccurately spelled out in foot-high red lettering.

The vandals have scrawled: 'Andy Farrel your more like us! Give art a chance. Art is not a crime! From Pots & Cheb!'

Mr Farrell said he was livid: "Forget about any restorative justice initiatives, all the good work that has gone on before has been ruined.

"They have used my name now and as such made a personal attack on me, which is more serious than just the 'objectionable eyesores' they create.

"For that reason, if they are caught I will be asking that the punishment is more in line with that than just 'normal' graffiti.

"If they want a debate they can use the letters page like normal people do. They can even contact me via the paper if they have the guts, but if they want to carry on with their mindless criminal acts I trust they will be tracked down and punished."

Mr Farrell said he didn't agree with the message on the wall, adding: "I'm absolutely nothing like them. I was a bit of a dosser as a kid and didn't get any qualifications and that's the biggest thing that drives me.

"These people might be intelligent, but they'll have no future with a criminal record – that's what I'm trying to get across."

Farington PCSO Mike Cobley said on being alerted to the graffiti he immediately contacted the council to have the 'personal attack' removed.

He said: "We have circulated photos to all the neighbourhood team officers.

"Town centre PC Rob Duerden is a bit of a graffiti expert and can often identify certain offenders by their style."
