Police in Leyland have pledged to reclaim the roads from boy racers in the town following a high profile crackdown.
More than a dozen officers took part in the multi-agency Operation Cruiser on Thursday night to send out a clear message to young drivers behave yourself or face the consequences.

In total 19 vehicles were pulled over and checked by officers from Leyland's neighbourhood policing team, the motorway division as well as VOSA, with 11 issued with prohibition notices.

Leyland town centre community beat manager PC Rob Duerden said: "The operation was a real success with plenty of prohibitions issued for things like exhaust pipes, overly tinted windows and other major faults.

"The vehicle owners have to get the changes done in a week or their car will be seized.

"There were also four fixed penalty notices given out for motoring offences including illegal registration plates and not wearing seatbelts.

"One driver was even arrested for a public order offence after taking issue with the operation."

PC Duerden said that Operation Cruiser will continue on a rolling programme throughout the summer.
