Chorley’s branch of the Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society held a celebration on Saturday.

The seventh annual event was at Astley Hall and Astley Coach House.

A spokesman said: “Voluntary, commercial and public organisations linked to family history gave advice, and sold resources.”

The day also included four talks with a family history focus.

Groups in attendance included Chorley Remembers, Chorley Community History Library, Military Records Researchers, Friends of Astley Hall, The Queens Lancashire Regiment Museum, and the Chorley and District Historical and Archaeological Society.

The Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society was founded in 1973 as the Rossendale Society for Genealogy and Heraldry (Lancashire).

Today it has 11 branch meetings that take place in Lancashire.

The Chorley Research Centre is based in the Astley Hall Farmhouse.
