The completion of a Chorley park prompted a day of celebration.

Places for People invited local residents to help celebrate the refurbishment of Fell View Park with a day of activities.

The day included a whole range of fun and games with croquet, football, basketball and gardening all provided.

The refurbishment was part-funded by the Lottery and activities were also provided for the over 50s.

The day encouraged people to grow food from home, with the assistance of The Wildlife Trust.

Residents have also been planting apple and pear trees which will eventually be grown to eat.

Pupils from St James’ Primary School turned up in the afternoon to play games and learn how to plant strawberries.

Teacher Linda Mather said: “It’s brought the school and the community together. It’s relevant to the children’s education.”
