£700 compensation for Champ reader Dave

A Brinscall man has been promised more than £700 in compensation for unsatisfactory work done to his bathroom.

David Moran, 67, of School Lane, ordered a Wickes bathroom and contacted the Consumer Champion after contractors failed to deliver when it came to the quality of the 2,500 installation.

The Champ got on to Wickes who got on to their original contractor.

They've now agreed to pay 770 as a gesture of goodwill and a cheque is now on its way.

Mr Moran said: "I'm very happy that it's finally over and done with but nothing compensates for all the mess and problems we've seen.

"I would go back to Wickes, even after this episode because I can't blame them directly, it was just that they made a bad choice of contractor.

"The second workmen we had were absolutely brilliant and were absolutely second to none - thanks again to the Consumer Champion."

Mr Moran received a letter from Wickes' customer service department which states that in addition to a 50 gift voucher, he would now receive 100 as a final settlement.

Jim Cropp, of the company's customer correspondence team, wrote: "On a final note, we are extremely pleased that you are delighted with your finished bathroom installation.

"We do value your custom and hope that you will continue to shop at Wickes."
