A motorcyclist had his leg completely severed after a horror crash between Chorley and Leyland.
The collision took place at 4.20pm on Sunday, August 21, between two motorcycles which had been travelling together on the A59 Liverpool Road, at Bretherton.
One of the riders, a 48-year-old man from Liverpool, came off his bike and his left leg was completely severed at the knee at the scene.
The other rider, a 36-year-old man also from Liverpool, sustained fractures to his foot. Both riders were taken through to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
The road was closed for around two-and-a-half hours whilst collision investigators carried out work.
Sgt Michael Young, of Lancashire Police, said: “An investigation is now underway and I would appeal to anybody who witnessed this collision to come forward.”
