Long-overdue building work has finally started on a site in Leyland.

Plans to build eight houses at Church View on Slater Lane, Moss Side, have been in the pipeline since 2009, and a derelict house was demolished to make way for them.

The plans were put on hold following the economic downturn, but builders moved on to the site this week to start erecting the three and four bedroom family homes, and a one bedroom coach house.

Managing Director of developer Wainhomes, Steve Toghill, said: “We started the foundation work before Christmas, and are due to start the superstructure building work soon.

“We’re expecting it to be finished by June.”

He added: “We’re delighted work’s started and we look forward to having another successful Wainhomes development in Leyland.”

Wainhomes currently has properties in The Grange in Lancaster Lane, The Rydings in Croston Road, and Elmswood Park in Penwortham.

They also have homes in Buckshaw Village, between Chorley and Leyland, and in Preston and Chorley.
