Leyland’s community cinema, which was run by South Ribble Council’s Leyland Neighbourhood Forum at the Civic Centre, is no longer in operation.

Chairman of the forum, Coun Jane Bell, said there wasn’t enough demand, so resources are being put into running other events.

She explained: “Unfortunately we just weren’t getting the numbers through the door to keep the community cinema running, which is a real shame.

“But we’ve had a really busy summer with more than 1,000 people turning out to the Big Lunch and hundreds more to our first-ever Moss Side Fun Day.

“We’ve also got an action-packed programme of events lined-up for the coming months, including the much-anticipated return of Leyland Live as well as a fully-booked Halloween party at Moss Side Community Centre and the popular older people’s annual Christmas party.”
