A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal collision in Whitestake last August.

Leo McCarthy, 32, of Robin Hey, Leyland has also been charged with driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs, say police.

A spokesman said: "We were called around 12.50am on Monday 29 August last year following reports of a collision close to the junction of Pope Lane and Green Lane in Whitestake.

"A Peugeot car was found nearby on its side in a field and following a further search, the body of a man was found nearby. Despite the efforts of emergency services, Nicholas Farrimond, 35, from Bamber Bridge was sadly pronounced dead at the scene."

McCarthy has been bailed to appear at Preston Magistrates Court on Thursday, March 30th.
