Anniversary weekend of music and talent
Excitement is building for a musical extravaganza with a difference which will be held in Chorley next month.
On Saturday, June 6, a special Proms in the Park event will take part in the newly renovated walled gardens of Astley Hall, Astley Park.
It will be followed a day later by an X Factor-style competition called Lancashire's Got Talent.
It has been organised by Chorley and District Building Society, in conjunction with the Chorley and Leyland Guardian and 106.5 Central Radio.
Actor/DJ Scott Wright has agreed to host the show while Stacey McClean, who found fame with S Club Juniors but now works at 106.5 Central Radio, is hoping to be one of the judges although it has not yet been confirmed.
Tickets are still available for the Proms in the Park event on Saturday, June 6, which features the award-winning Leyland Band with guests St Austell Brass Band.
The evening will feature the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and the Pomp of the Proms. Gates open at 6.30pm and tickets cost 15 each.
There will be a nominal charge for the Lancashire's Got Talent Competition on Sunday June 7.
Both events will be in the open air and people should bring their own seats.
These two days are part of Chorley Building Society's 150th anniversary celebrations and all proceeds raised from the weekend will go to the North West Branch of the Variety Club.
The charity Variety Club works to help improve the lives of sick, disabled and disadvantaged children and young people up to the age of 19 years old within the Lancashire area.
Refreshments will be available from the newly refurbished Ambio Caf accessed from the gardens.
