George's Marvellous Medicine coming to Preston

One of Roald Dahl's most famous books is being brought to life with new stage show in Preston.

Adapted by celebrated children's dramatist David Wood, George's Marvellous Medicine is coming to the Charter Theatre from Tuesday - Saturday, March 2 - 6.

First published in 1981, the book is one of Dahl's funniest and most exciting stories, about a young boy who makes a marvellous new medicine to cure his grandmother of her terrifying temper.

But when his grandmother drinks his special new potion, the results are explosive and hilarious.

The show is produced by the famed Birmingham Stage Company, which has had hits in the past with Horrible Histories and The Jungle Book.

Youngster Clark Devlin, who recently toured in a production of Horrid Henry, takes on the title role, and granny is wickedly played by Erika Poole.

Neal Foster, founder of the Birmingham Stage Company, said: "Our new adaptation will take the show onto a new level - we're daring to hope it could prove the most exciting show for children we've ever staged"

Performances are 7pm on Tuesday; 10.30am and 1.30pm on Wednesday and Thursday; 10.30am and 7pm on Friday; and 2.30pm and 7pm on Saturday.

Tickets are 13 for adults and 10 for children.
