Glastonbury-style festival set for Chorley

A mini Glastonbury-style music festival is set to rock a Chorley village.

Music lovers will flock to Mawdesley for Lake Fest on August 16 to hear some of the best up-and-coming singers and bands.

The event, in a field at the Rock and River outdoor centre, Cliffs Farm, is set to pull in families with bouncy castles, face painting and a host of other attractions.

One of the organisers, Tim Chu, who came up with the idea for the event with friend and site manager John Waring, has managed to secure funding for a second festival next year – so he's hoping the first proves a bit hit.

Tim, who has just returned from London where he has been promoting a new single, said: "There is going to be a real mixture of bands and solo artists with some-thing for everyone. Pete Frampton and the Escape Committee are going to headline and throughout the

day we will hear from 10 different acts."

Included in the line-up is former X-factor contestant Louise Heatley, from Preston, who made it to the finals of the auditions on the hit ITV programme last year.

Tim, a session guitarist who has performed with Corner Shop and 10cc, added: "This is the first time ever that something like this has happened in Mawdesley and if it is a success then we're hoping to make it even bigger and better next year.

"Among the other artists performing are Krazy 88 – a punk rock band who are currently working on a new album with a producer who helped with Coldplay, and Jerome McMurray, a blues and soul artist originally from New York."

Tickets cost 10 for an adult and 5 for under 16s.Children under tfive get in free.
