Plans by Leyland Trucks to expand its premise at Croston Road in Farington Moss have been welcomed.
Councillors sitting on South Ribble Council’s planning committee voted unanimously to grant planning permission to the firm.
Farington councillor Graham Walton said: “I think we should really appreciate the work this company gives to our town.”
Leyland councillor Derek Forrest added: “To see this expanding, well, maybe we can start calling Leyland a truck town again.”
The plans are for the erection of third floor extension over an existing office block, which will create office space from 100 staff, who are being relocated from elsewhere within the complex.
Remodelling the main office entrance and reception is also proposed, and some offices within the assembly plant area will be demolished.
