Skating fans were queuing out of the door at the opening of Leyland’s new skate park.
The Warehouse Leyland, on Talbot Road, officially opened on Saturday, and is proving more popular than expected.
Businessman Peter Chandler ploughed £100,000 into the project, and has now passed the reigns on to his sons and daughter, Steven and Andrew Chandler, and Julie Chandler-Parsons. Steven said: “The opening weekend went really well, and people were waiting outside from about 8.30am!
“We were only planning to open at 10am, but we let them in early because they were all so excited. We’ve had a lot of interest from parents too, and some came along to see what it was like. The start of the summer holidays was a really great time to open.”
The new facility caters for skateboards, in-line skates, BMX bikes and scooters, and hosts different sessions for varying abilities and age groups.
