A group of tremendous Chorley volunteers were recognised at a special Lancashire Constabulary awards evening.
Special Constable George Berwick, from Clayton-le-Woods, was presented with the Special Constabulary Student Officer of the Year prize, for his enthusiasm and dedication to his role in the Southern Division.
And Special Inspector Peter Allen, also from Clayton-le-Woods, scooped the award for Special Constabulary Officer of the Year, after demonstrating excellent work during his temporary role as Special Chief Inspector for three policing divisions.
The lucky winners were presented with a commemorative glass plaque and a cup at the force’s headquarters.
Mr Allen said: “I remember this first thing that inspired me was a school friend’s dad who was a special constable, and ever since joining the ranks I’ve enjoyed it immensely.
“I am very pleased to receive this award, and also for the support of the constabulary and the community for more than three decades now.”
