There’s plenty going on for children and families in Leyland this half term.

Youngsters enjoyed taking part in a woodwork session at Worden Arts Centre in Worden Park on Bank Holiday Monday, and there are lots of activities to choose from for the rest of the week, for children and teens.

Tuesday – Inflatable Fun Swims at Leyland Leisure Centre on Lancastergate. From 1pm until 2pm, it costs £2.60 per person and is suitable for all ages (although they must be able to swim 25m to go on the inflatables).

This activity also takes place on Wednesday at the same time.

Also on Tuesday – Youth Forum at The Place Community Centre, Royal Avenue, Wade Hall, Leyland.

Suitable for people aged eight to 18 who live in a New Progress Housing property, the forum is an opportunity for young people to share their views and help improve the local community.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Wednesday – A carnival with free food and drink and lots of fun activities is taking place from 11am until 4pm at the South Ribble Youth Zone in West Paddock, Leyland.

Attractions include a barbecue, giant inflatables, bucking broncos, hook a duck, coconut shy and stocks, dance, arts and crafts.

All activities are free.

The event is open to anyone between the age of 13 and 19 (and up to 25 for those with a disability or learning difficulties).

Call 01772 426850 for more information.

Also on Wednesday – Cowboy Time, at the Broadfield Base Community Centre, Bannister Drive, Leyland, between 2pm and 4pm.

The activity is a chance for youths to design their own ‘Cowboy’ themed costumes to wear if they would like to take part in the Leyland Festival parade this summer, and learn some cool moves to show off during the procession (which is on Saturday, June 15).

The same event is taking place on Thursday at The Place Community Centre, Royal Avenue, Wade Hall, Leyland.

The cost is 50p and refreshments will be provided.

Thursday – Den Building at Worden Arts Centre, Worden Park, for children aged six years and over, (must be accompanied by an adult). It starts at 2pm, and booking is essential, costing £2 per child. Call 01772 625625.

Also on Thursday – Gymnastics with trampolining, an intensive session at Leyland Leisure Centre on Lancastergate, from 10am until 12 noon.

It costs £6.80 per person and is suitable for children aged five to 11.

Booking is required, so call 01772 432285.

Saturday – The Big Lunch, at Clayton Green, Wade Hall and Northbrook Primary School Playing Fields, from 12pm – 2.30pm.

This is a free lunch with activities for all the family, organised by the Leyland Project, South Ribble Council, New Progress Housing and Asda.

To register your place contact the Leyland Project on 01772 436200 or 01772 426005 as places are limited.
