The first applicants to one of Lancashire’s leading business awards have undergone interviews to decide if they will make it through to the next round of judging.

The applicants for the Best Use of IT and Creative Agency of the Year in this year’s Be Inspired Business Awards were interviewed yesterday with further applicants due to face the judges this week.

UKTI North West has been proud to support the BIBAs for many years and we have met some fantastic businesses and individuals which today make up the foundation of a growing export market in the region.

Today, the 12-strong shortlists of applicants to the Exporter of the Year and Manufacturer of the Year will be the latest to be interviewed.

Those which are successful will progress to the second round of judging, which takes place next month, when the BIBAs sends its judges ‘on tour’ to visit applicants in their businesses.

UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) North West will lead the panel which will meet those applicants bidding to win the Exporter of the Year category. Paul Stowers, Deputy Director for UKTI North West said: “Exports are vital to ensuring our economy continues to prosper and that means the businesses which operate in this sector are extremely impressive.

“I have no doubt that all the judges will be challenged by this year’s applicants today and we look forward to meeting those we shortlist as finalists when we go on tour next month.”

UKTI will be joined by Peter Evans, Managing Director at reigning Exporter of the Year, Evans Vanodine, alongside Sue Roberts of Lancashire County Council and HSBC’s Christopher Mackenzie.

The Manufacturer of the Year Award is led by Carole Myers, of category sponsor Conception Marketing, and Ginni Cooper, Corporate Services Director at chartered accountants and business advisors, Moore and Smalley.
