A Leyland teenager died after the kayak he bought on eBay overturned in the Lake District, an inquest heard.
Chad Salisbury, 18, of Eastlands, was visiting Lake Ullswater with a group of friends in July last year when the tragedy took place.
The inquest on Friday heard how Mr Salisbury and his friend Glenn Baron paddled into the 200ft deep lake with their two kayaks while the rest of the group watched from the shore.
Neither was wearing a life jacket.
The hearing was told that within five minutes Mr Salisbury’s kayak capsized 80 metres from the shore.
Friend Glenn Baron said: “I saw him resurface. I went over to try and help. He was swimming back towards the shore. He suddenly went under.”
