Seventeen floats have signed up to this year’s Leyland Festival parade, but there is still room for 13 more.

The Festival Committee, which is gearing up for the big day on June 21, is calling on dance troupes, people with interesting vehicles, businesses and charities to get on board with the festivities while there’s still time.

Jo Worsfold said: “We want people with vintage or new vehicles that are that bit different, maybe it’s one of a kind or it might have been owned by someone famous or been on TV.

“We also want local businesses that may have a vehicle that stands out from the rest, and we need local companies, community groups, charities and schools to come together and help us put on a wonderful parade for not just our community, but to help show visitors to the area that Leyland is a great place to visit.

“There is no cost to enter the parade and where possible we can put people in touch with local haulage companies who can supply a vehicle.

“Ian Robinson Transport, of Moss Side, is one company which has offered the use of six of its vehicles this year.”

She added: “Worden Park is filling up fast but we still have pitches available for stalls and activities. We also have more space available in the festival parade.”
