A round-up of who’s been in court this week.

A thief who confessed to stealing a £100 barbecue from Leyland’s Tesco supermarket has been slapped with a £205 court bill, discharged conditionally for six months. Darren John Aldred, 44, from Mallard Close, Leyland, was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15, costs of £40 to the Crown Prosecution Service, and a criminal courts charge of £150.

A Leyland man has been fined £500 after admitting to speeding in Croston Road, Farington. Lee John Taylor, 47, from Barn Hey Drive, Farington Moss, drove faster than the 30mph limit. Six points were added to his licence, and he was also ordered to pay a £50 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.

A man found to be guilty of drink-driving has been banned from getting behind the wheel, and fined £445. Ryan Jones, 29, from Glover Close, Leyland, denied the offence, but was found guilty when he attended Preston Magistrates’ Court. He was caught drinking under the influence of alcohol in Moss Lane, Leyland. He has been disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 36 months, which will be reduced by 36 weeks of he completes a course by August 2017. He must also pay a victim surcharge of £45 and pay costs of £250 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

A 37-year-old has been fined £200 for speeding. Thomas Campbell Allanson, from Glover Close, Leyland, was caught driving faster than the 30mph limit on a stretch of road in Aughton. The case was proved in his absence, and three points were added to his licence. He must also pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.

A man has confessed to being drunk and disorderly in a public place in Leyland. John Victor Martin Smedley, 37, from Seven Stars Road, Leyland, admitted to the behaviour in Preston Road. He was fined £75, and made to pay a £20 victim surcharge, £85 in costs, and a criminal courts charge of £150. He also faces trial for alledgedly assaulting a police officer, which he denies.

A woman has admitted to driving faster than the 30mph limit in Fox Lane, Leyland. Lisa Marie Delaney, 34, from Crown Street, Farington, had three points added to her licence, was fined £55, and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

A 60-year-old has pleaded guilty to driving while over the legal drink-drive limit in Fox Lane, Leyland. Eric Robinson, from Mead Avenue, Leyland, has been disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 22 months, which will be reduced by 22 weeks if he completes a course by September 2016. He was fined £110, must pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 in costs, as well as a criminal courts charge of £150.
