£50,000 cannabis producer sent to jail
Andrew Dickinson
A SOUTH Ribble cannabis producer has been sentenced to more than three years in prison after being caught on two separate occasions with large volumes of the drug.
Andrew Dickinson, 31, of Hampshire Road, Walton-le-Dale, was today sentenced at Preston Crown Court to a total of three years and three months in prison.
He received fifteen months for possession with intent to supply a Class B drug and a two-year sentence on the separate charge of conspiracy to produce a Class B drug
Dickinson was initially arrested in November 2010, after 50 mature cannabis plants and a hydroponics room were found at his home in Walton-le-Dale.
Following being released on bail awaiting trial, he was then arrested by detectives on Philips Road, Preston, in September of last year with ten ounces of cannabis and 146 plants.
A further search of Dickinson’s Walton-le-Dale home resulted in an additional find of 68 plants.
The total street value of the cannabis found on Dickinson and at his home, in both 2010 and 2011, is estimated at over £50,000.
Inspector Graham Coates, of Lancashire Constabulary’s southern division, said: “We at the constabulary are pleased with the sentencing and believe it shows that those who deal drugs will be dealt with strongly.
“Dickinson now faces a lengthy jail spell after not only once, but twice, being caught attempting to grow and sell cannabis in Preston and South Ribble.”
