Banned man went through dustbins

A man who rummaged his way through dustbins to scavenge for food and broke into bin cupboards to sleep in Leyland has admitted breaking his ASBO.

Derek Bromley was given a four-year ASBO in February, last year, after a string of complaints about his behaviour.

These included sifting through wheelie bins on collection day and leaving the streets strewn with waste.

However, the 39-year-old, whose current address is listed on court papers as Springfield Road, Coppull, has now admitted breaching the order twice.

He was sentenced to a community order to meet with probation workers for 12 months during a hearing at Chorley Magistrates' Court on January 18.

Coun Eric Bell, Chorley Council's executive member for neighbourhoods, said: "It's unfortunate that he has breached the ASBO and we hope the community order will help him keep to the conditions of the ASBO and prevent him from causing further nuisance to residents."

He broke into a bin storage area of Jubilee Court sheltered housing scheme on West Paddock, Leyland, to sleep and store his belongings.

Under the terms of his ASBO, Bromley is banned from acting or inciting others to act in an anti-social manner in South Ribble.

He is also prevented from interfering with any refuse bins belonging to someone else or refuse skips on or within five metres of a private

domestic property.

The order has also banned Bromley from trespassing and entering Jubilee Court.

He is also banned from an area bounded by Leyland Civic Centre, West Paddock, Cedarwood Drive, Pinewood Crescent and Forest Way.
