Chorley drugs raid drama
Police held a series of high profile drug raids across Chorley on Friday.
Six addresses in Chorley and Adlington were targeted by officers as part of Operation Corduroy.
The Guardian accompanied the police on the raids, which started at 10.30am.
Search teams kitted out in blue riot outfits with protective helmets, arm and legs pads were backed up with police officers, dog handlers and Police Community Support Officers.
One of the first addresses to be targeted was in Bolton Street, where a female was arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class C drug.
A male was later arrested on suspicion of money laundering offences.
Neighbours watched on as the police gained entry to the flat.
A female occupant was later seen being escorted out of the property flanked by two police officers.
A search of the address found a quantity of suspected cannabis resin and cash in the bedroom.
Sniffer dogs were used to conduct a search of the flat before the police teams carried out a thorough sweep.
A man who lives at the flat was was subsequently arrested on suspicion of money laundering offences.
He was taken to Leyland police station where he was due to be interviewed.
Neighbours living in Bolton Street area congratulated the police on their efforts and welcomed the crackdown.
One owner of a local business told the Guardian: "I am glad that the police took note of residents' concerns and acted on information that they were supplied with."
PCSOs were dispatched to the areas where the raids were carried out to reassure members of the public and tell them about the operation.
Inspector Grant Smith, of Chorley Police, said: "We have executed six warrants at this time and there have been five arrests.
"Cannabis, heroin, what we believe to be cocaine and amphetamine have all been recovered during the raids.
"The message coming back to the station is that the raids have been well received and members of the community have been very supportive of our action.
"The operation has been completely based on intelligence given to us by the community and we are here to reassure them that we are doing all that we can."
