Applications for community bids funds from South Ribble Partnership can now be made for the next year.
Voluntary, community or faith-based groups in South Ribble are being invited to apply for grants of up to £500 for projects.
Since 2010, South Ribble Partnership has provided funding of more than £100,000 to 45 different groups across the borough, for everything from hall refurbishments to lunch clubs and help with disabled facilities.
Groups used to only be able to bid for funding during two application openings each year, but now bids can be placed at any time of the year.
The partnership looks for applicants that match at least one priority of the fund, which are:
- Building communities – bringing communities together to make decisions, supporting each other and breaking down barriers,
- Better together – working with other groups and making new connections to deliver activities,
- Supporting volunteers – providing opportunities for people to volunteer, access training and development.
Leyland St James’ Scout Group was one of the groups that has benefited from funding in the past.
The group received £500 to ensure that every child could attend camping weekends and to help towards the purchase of new tents.
Leyland Barracudas Swimming Club also successfully secured funding, and was able to increase training hours and fund more coaching, which helped boost membership.
Claire Foreman, chairman of the South Ribble Partnership, said: “It’s great to hear about the success that other community groups have had through our funding.
“And I would encourage any group out there that thinks they might be eligible to get in touch.”
