Exam success for Leyland students
STUDENTS from Chorley and Leyland are celebrating after setting new standards in the A-level stakes.
Brainy pupils at Leyland's Runshaw College secured a 99.9 per cent pass rate across 43 subjects for the fifth year running, with over a third gaining a grade A.
The school's scholars also beat national averages to produce a whopping 10 per cent of grades at the new golden A* grade and 72 per cent of all students notched up impressive A*-B grades.
Kathy Passant, principal of the Langdale Road college, said the results were down to the hard work of both teachers and students.
She said: "We couldn't be more pleased with how our students have got on this year. They're a fantastic group of students and are ones to be proud of.
"They're all incredibly hard working and they have the right attitude towards work but having a good time too.
"It would be wrong to go through today without recognising the talent of the teachers. They work incredibly hard in partnership with the students."
Students studying at Cardinal Newman College have also exceeded expectations with a pass rate of 99.7 per cent and over 70 per cent of students getting grades A* to B.
