The family of a Leyland man who was stabbed to death have vowed to continue fighting for justice as they mark 1,000 days since the tragedy.

Kevin Rogers was killed with one stab wound to his back in the early hours of New Year’s Day, 2010.

A police investigation and crown court trial have so far failed to see anyone convicted over his death.

Today marks 1,000 days since he died where he fell on Edgehill Crescent, outside a house where revellers brought in the New Year.

His mum Helen has said that time has not helped to heal the pain of losing her son, and the family members will continue to do all they can to get justice.

She has also reappealed for anyone with any information to come forward.

Helen, of Bannister Drive, said: “It is now 1,000 days since my beautiful son was taken away and time does not heal or make things easier.

“My son loved life and took pleasure in the simplest of things.

“He was not materialistic in any way. Yes, he liked to have nice things, but what mattered most to him was his family and friends.

“He was always happy and easy going.

“We as a family miss him so much, more than words could ever express, and we will never give up our fight for justice for him and want to thank everyone who helps keep his name and memory alive.”

Police charged Susan Kenny, 34, of Manor House Close, Leyland, with Kevin’s murder but a jury at Preston Crown Court cleared her of any wrongdoing.

Helen said: “They say every thought of a person passed is sending them a prayer. I know then my son has had hundreds, if not thousands of prayers sent to him daily.

“Today, 1,000 days later, will be no different.”
