Flat death ‘not suspicious,’ police say

The death of a 37-year-old woman who died after being found collapsed in a flat in Leyland is no longer being treated as suspicious, police say.

Lisa Thornley, of Leyland Lane, Leyland, died in the early hours of Friday morning sparking a police investigation.

Ms Thornley was found at a flat at the Cedar Court sheltered accommodation complex on East Street, Leyland, around 10.30pm on Thursday.

Paramedics and police attended and gave her first aid before taking her to Chorley Hospital.

She died at 5.30am on Friday.

A spokesman for Lancashire Constabulary today said the death continues to be treated as unexplained however there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

Police are awaiting the results of a Home Office post mortem to establish a cause of death.

A 32-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of assault on Friday, has since been released without charge, police confirmed.

A spokesman for Lancashire Constabulary said: “Police are awaiting the post mortem results.

“There is not believed to any suspicious circumstances at this time, but the investigation continues.”
