Former gym to get new lease of life

THE building that once housed Leyland's longest established gym is to reopen as a dance studio.

The prominent site on Eden Street, which was once home to Leyland Fitness, has been left derelict since the business closed down earlier this year.

Letting agents say they are now in the process of signing off a rental agreement with a local person to transform the building into a dance studio.

The site, which measures more than 4,500 sq ft, has been advertised as suitable for office and light industrial use.

Agents say it's a 'substantial brick property with a modern extension to the rear, is well maintained, and lends itself to many uses.'

The ground floor includes a reception and waiting room, changing areas and sauna and large open fitness areas.

Upstairs, there are another three rooms which provide over 800 sq ft of space.

Martin Ainsworth, surveyor for agents MDAK, said: "We have agreed a letting with someone from the local area.

"It will hopefully be reopening as a dance studio within a month or so."

The gym closed in March when the business's owner's, Paula Jeffreys and James Crouan, decided not to renew the lease.

They said they were 'leaving on a high' with more members than ever and wanted to try something different.

The gym had undergone a full revamp in 2008 when it changed its name from Body Logic.
