Gang of 15 assault teenage boy

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a teenage boy was assaulted and robbed as he cycled through Penwortham with a friend on Friday.

The 16-year-olds were riding their bikes along Broadfield Drive at the junction of Hawksbury Drive around 10pm when they were set upon by a larger group of around 15 youths.

The offenders punched and kicked one of the boys and stole a bag he was carrying strapped across his chest.

They escaped with his wallet, cash card and £10 in cash.

DC Will Hogan from South Ribble CID said: “This was an unprovoked robbery in which the victim sustained a black eye.

“I would appeal to anybody that witnessed this incident or with any information about those responsible to contact Lancashire Police on 101.”

All the offenders are described as male and were also riding on bikes.

They were dressed in black with their faces covered.
