Glitch closes Brig petrol station

Petrol pumps have been closed at a Lancashire filling station following a 'technical problem.'

It is believed that the diesel and unleaded pumps were mixed up at the Sainsbury's petrol station in Bamber Bridge leading to cars filling their tanks with the wrong fuel on Wednesday morning.

A spokesman for Sainsbury's said: "Following a technical problem with some of pumps at our Bamber Bridge petrol filling station, a small number of cars have experienced some mechanical problems.

The affected pumps have been closed and will remain so until the problem is rectified.

"Other diesel and unleaded petrol pumps are working normally.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and urge customers who believe their car has been affected to contact our Customer Careline immediately on 0800 636262."
