Hundreds enjoy snowdrops

Beautiful snowdrops are in full bloom at Bank Hall in Bretherton.

Many varieties of the flowers are growing in the grounds of the Grade II listed building and hundreds of visitors have been flocking to see them.

The grounds are open on Sundays in February for Snowdrop Sundays, organised by the Friends of Bank Hall to raise money for the hall’s restoration.

Visitors can wander around the grounds to admire the snowdrops, enjoy refreshments in the cafe and pop into the visitor centre to find out about the hall’s history and plans for its future.

Andrew Allen, from the Friends of Bank Hall, said: “It’s remarkable how many people do come and they largely know about it through word of mouth. Some come from quite a distance.

“It’s a terrific show of snowdrops, perhaps the best in the North West, and has been nationally-acclaimed by the Snowdrop Society.”

Snowdrop Sundays run from noon to 4pm.

Admission costs £2.50 for adults and is free for children.
