Leyland cannabis 'factory' found
Police have uncovered a cannabis factory containing nearly 70 plants at an address in Leyland.
Officers made the discovery at the house on Young Avenue on Wednesday after executing a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
The upper floor of the property had been completely converted and plumbing, heating and lighting equipment had been installed to support the cultivation of plants.
Community Beat Manager for Leyland town centre, PC Graham Whitehouse, said: "An investigation is now underway and enquiries are continuing into the source of this factory. I would appeal to local residents to come forward if they are aware of any suspicious activity in the Young Avenue area over the past few months.
"I hope this find demonstrates our continued efforts to reducing drug related activity in Leyland and supporting the communities that we serve. I would like to reassure local residents that the production and supply of controlled drugs will not be tolerated.
"As always, we welcome any information from the public which helps us to tackle this type of crime and I would urge residents to pass on any suspicions they may have about drugs in their area to the police."
* A 41-year-old man from Leyland who was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply has been bailed pending further enquiries.
