Best school in Leyland: Worden Sports College students with their record results

School pupils across Leyland are celebrating record-breaking GCSE results this week, despite national headlines suggesting exams are being marked more harshly.

Worden Sports College achieved a top score of 100 per cent of pupils gaining at least five A*-C grades, which is a first for the Westfield Drive high school.

Balshaws, on Church Road, gained a 91 per cent pass rate, while nearly 80 per cent of students got the top GCSE marks at Leyland St Mary’s, on Royal Avenue.

Wellfield Business and Enterprise College, on Yewlands Drive, was also pleased with its results, which included some particularly good individual grades for the Year 11s.
