Leyland’s Christmas tree which attracted hundreds to its lights switch-on event last weekend has fallen down.

The tree outside the United Reformed Church on Hough Lane has only been up since Saturday, but was broken and blown over by the strong winds on Thursday.

Hundreds of people gathered around the tree on Saturday evening to watch the lights being switched on, as well as taking part in a lantern procession and Christingle service at the church.
