A hilarious Leyland performer created a national ‘trend’ on Twitter after a boyband member backed his performance on an ITV show.
Dad of-four Graham Blackledge, 42, who works at Rimmers Music, in Leyland, earned the support of One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson for his appearance on Britain’s Got Talent.
Louis took a liking to Graham’s unique organ act, tweeting ‘Yes!!!! EVERYONE VOTE GRAHAM’ to his 3,060,662 followers.
Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to gain enough public votes, and Graham was knocked out of the competition.
During the audition stage of the competition, Graham captured the heart of the nation with his Lancashire wit and rendition of ‘La Bamba’.
Judges Alesha Dixon and David Walliams were caught by his charm, overriding Simon Cowell’s vote with two positive yes’.
But his May 7 semi-final mash-up of ‘Phantom of the Opera’ and ‘Hey-Ya’ was not enough to beat ballroom act, Kai and Natalia and opera singers Jonathan and Charlotte, who have now soared through to Saturday’s live final.
While the judges, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams, remained positive about Graham’s loveable personality, his act was not enough to convince them.
The unanimous decision from the panel was that Graham would have been at his best if he had brought a stand-up act to the stage.
Amanda said: “You’re really cute - you’re kind of like Wallace and Gromit’s love child.
“But I don’t think you’re going to go much further in this competition. But you are lovely.”
And Simon said: “The choice of song with your voice and that organ was excruciating. It didn’t go together once again.
““I do like you though, as a person. I think you’re a very, very nice guy.
“You’re funny and I think your wife’s actually very lucky to have you because you’re a great guy – you really are.”
According to Graham’s Twitter, the organist is now regretting the fact he didn’t try his hand at a comedy performance.
Tweeting out to his 9,198 followers he said: “Morning, Thank you all for your support. I should have tried doing stand up and binned the organ, I made a mistake, sorry, Graham.”
He later posted: “I would love a job on TV. This is my dream. It is good to have dreams and sometimes they come true. You never know what may happen, hope so.”
Louis is now trying to get Graham back into the competition, via a public ‘wildcard’ vote. He has created a hashtag #grahamforthewildcard.
