Man dies on motorway - updated

A man has died after being hit by a car on the M6 motorway.

The incident happened on the northbound carriageway just after junction 31 at around 1.30pm today (Monday).

The southbound carriage way has now reopened.

Three lanes of the M6 northbound have also reopened, and it is anticipated that the fourth lane will reopen at around 6pm.

Officers are now trying to identify the man who died, believed to be in his late 40s and from the Preston area.
