Memorial service for Falklands fallen

A memorial service for those who died in the Falklands War is being held in Chorley on April 19.

People are being invited to take part in a parade followed by a service, led by the Rector of Chorley, the Rev Dr John Cree, at the cenotaph.

Glyn Gaskell, chairman of the Chorley branch of the Royal British Legion and parade marshal, said: "We want people to come and pay their respects to the fallen."

The parade will form in St Thomas's Road at 11.30am. An artillery band will be taking part, the mounted branch of Lancashire Constabulary has been invited and there will be a marching party from the Welsh Guards.

The parade will be followed by the service.
